How is a dental implant placed?
1. Initial consultation
The purpose of this first appointment is to carry out a general clinical and oral-dental check-up to determine whether implants are an option. To do this, we perform an X-ray and a Cone Beam scan.
2. Tailor-made quotation and treatment plan with payment details
After the initial consultation, you will be given a surgical and prosthetic treatment plan. Dr Amouzgar explains the type of implant used and the operating procedure. A detailed estimate will be provided.
3. Pre-implant surgery
Certain dental configurations mean that implants cannot be placed without prior surgery. Sufficient bone volume is required in the jaws for an implant to be placed. Your dental surgeon makes this possible by offering you surgical solutions: bone grafting or bone filling with a sinus lift… Implant placement takes 6 to 9 months.
4. Dental implant placement
Theimplant is a titanium metal screw placed in the jawbone. This acts as a root for the new prosthesis. This procedure is performed under local anaesthetic. You need to wait around 2 months (in some cases 6 months) to ensure that your body accepts the implant and to be able to consider fitting the final prosthesis.
5. Fitting the denture
There are different types of dentures, and we can recommend a model to suit your teeth. Each prosthesis is custom-made in a laboratory by a prosthetist.
6. Follow-up and post-operative care
Dr. Amouzgar will accompany you after your implants have been placed. She explains the various post-operative treatments required for proper healing. A follow-up appointment is scheduled to check that all is well.
